Who is AGCare?

AGCare is a clever acronym for Agricultural Groups Concerned About Resources and the Environment. We are a coalition of 17 different farm organizations representing the farmers who grow fruit, vegetables, and field crops in Ontario.

Who is AGCare?

Our Vision: Enhancing public confidence in the environmental stewardship of Ontario’s crop producers.

AGCare’s Board of Directors is made up of 15 farmers [see AGCare Board and Staff]. AGCare employs 1.3 staff. We are funded primarily by farmers, through our 17 coalition member organizations.

We currently receive grant support from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) under a 3-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). We also receive grant support from the Agricultural Adaptation Council (AAC), Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada via the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA), and the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation for specific projects.

AGCare is actively involved with the following committees:

  • Agricultural Communicators Committee
  • OFEC Environmental Farm Plan Working Group
  • OFEC Nutrient Management Working Group
  • OFEC Water Quality Working Group
  • Ontario Biodiversity Council
  • Ontario Farm Environmental Coalition (OFEC) steering committee
